JAY-Z is set to headline this year’s Roots Picnic festival, fueling rumors that he’s gearing up to make a musical comeback.
Organizers announced on Tuesday (March 17) that Hov will perform with The Roots on May 30 at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. The hip-hop legends famously shared the stage back in 2001 for Jigga’s MTV Unplugged live album.
“Moving the Roots Picnic to Belmont Plateau and bringing JAY-Z and The Roots together to perform are both bucket-list moments for us,” The Roots’ manager and President of Live Nation Urban Shawn Gee said in a press release.
“After meeting with Mayor Cherelle Parker and hearing her vision for Philadelphia 250, she truly inspired us to dream even bigger, and we’re grateful to her, Commissioner Susan Slawson, Jazelle Jones and everyone who helped make it happen. We can’t wait to see everyone in May at the Plat.”
The full Roots Picnic 2026 lineup has yet to be revealed. Pre-sale tickets are available here with the code “ROOTS26,” while general on-sale begins Wednesday (March 18) at 10 AM ET.
